Waar vind je je gespreksgeschiedenis in de AI-modus van Google?

Where to find your Google AI Mode history

Google saves your AI Mode conversations, but the history is easy to miss. Here is where to find it on mobile and desktop, and how to continue or delete past chats.

Google saves your AI Mode conversations automatically. On desktop you find them behind the history icon in the top left of the AI Mode screen; on mobile they live behind your profile picture under "AI Mode history". From there you can reopen, continue or delete any past conversation.

AI Mode turns a search into a conversation, and conversations are worth returning to. Maybe you compared products yesterday and want to pick up where you left off, or you need the source an answer cited last week. This short guide shows exactly where your history lives and what you can do with it.

Where is your AI Mode history on desktop?

Open Google and switch to the AI Mode tab. In the top left of the AI Mode screen you will see a small history icon (a clock with an arrow). Click it and a panel opens with your past conversations, newest first. Select one and the full conversation loads, including the sources that were cited. You can simply type to continue where you stopped.

Where is your AI Mode history on mobile?

In the Google app, tap your profile picture in the top right and choose "AI Mode history". You get the same list of past conversations. On mobile the entry point moves around a little between app versions; if you do not see it under your profile, look for the history icon inside the AI Mode screen itself, just like on desktop.

Can you continue an old conversation?

Yes. Open a conversation from your history and ask your next question at the bottom. AI Mode keeps the context of the earlier exchange, which is exactly what makes the history useful: a product comparison, a travel plan or a piece of research can grow over days instead of starting from scratch each time.

How do you delete AI Mode conversations?

      Two options:

      • Single conversation: open the history panel, find the conversation and use the delete option next to it.
      • Everything at once: your AI Mode activity is part of your Google Web & App Activity. Go to myactivity.google.com, filter on AI Mode and delete from there, or set up automatic deletion after 3, 18 or 36 months.

Deleting a conversation removes it from your history; it does not undo any personalisation Google may have applied while the activity existed.

Why can't you see any history?

The usual suspects, in order of likelihood:

      • You are not signed in to your Google account, or you are signed in with a different account than the one you used for the conversation.
      • Web & App Activity is switched off for your account, so Google does not save AI Mode conversations at all.
      • You used AI Mode in an incognito window; those conversations are not saved.

What does this mean if you run a website?

People return to AI conversations the way they used to return to bookmarked pages. If your site is cited as a source in an answer, that citation keeps working every time someone reopens the conversation. One more reason to make your content the kind AI Mode wants to cite; our guide on how Google AI Mode works explains what that takes.

Where do I find my Google AI Mode history?

On desktop, click the history icon in the top left of the AI Mode screen. In the Google app on mobile, tap your profile picture and choose "AI Mode history". Both show your past AI conversations, newest first, and let you reopen or continue them.

Can I delete my AI Mode history?

Yes. Delete individual conversations from the history panel, or remove everything via myactivity.google.com where AI Mode activity is stored under Web & App Activity. There you can also set automatic deletion after 3, 18 or 36 months.

Why is my AI Mode history empty?

You are probably signed in with a different Google account, Web & App Activity is switched off, or the conversation happened in an incognito window. In all three cases Google does not save or show the conversation in your history.
