      Shopify forces /collections/, /products/, /pages/ and /blogs/ paths. You cannot freely design your URLs, so your internal linking and hierarchy have to work within that system rather than against it.

      The same product is reachable via /products/x and /collections/y/products/x, and variant, sort and filter parameters spin up near-identical URLs. Shopify sets canonicals by default, but faceted navigation and pagination still leak duplicates if you do not control them.

      Is Shopify good for SEO?+

      Yes. Shopify handles many technical basics out of the box, like an auto-generated sitemap, mostly correct canonicals and an SSL-secured CDN. Its weak spots are a fixed URL structure, collection and variant duplication, and theme-dependent rendering. Address those and Shopify competes with any platform.

      Why is my Shopify store not ranking?+
