SEOptimate robot checking AI assistant answers for brand mentions

      The problem

More and more searchers get an answer, not ten blue links

Somebody asks ChatGPT who to hire for what you do and gets back a short paragraph naming a handful of companies. There is no results page where you sit in fourth place. There is only the answer. If you are not in it, your business does not exist in that conversation, however well you rank in Google. And nothing tells you, because a click that never happens leaves no trace in Analytics.

AI visibility in SEOptimate shows you in black and white which questions do and do not mention you, and what you need to publish to change that.

      What is AI visibility (GEO)?

AI visibility, also called generative engine optimization or GEO, is the degree to which your brand or domain gets mentioned and cited in the answers produced by AI systems such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity, and in Google AI Overviews.

Classic SEO chases a position in a list of links. GEO asks a different question: are you part of the answer somebody actually reads? An AI assistant condenses a handful of sources and names a few brands along the way. Miss that cut and you are absent from the conversation entirely. Measuring AI visibility means fixing a set of questions your customers really ask, then checking each one for a mention or citation of your domain. It is not a switch that forces a mention, because AI answers are never fully predictable. It is a yardstick: you see where you are missing, you improve the content on that subject, and you measure again.

How do you measure whether you get cited in ChatGPT?

From a list of questions to a score and a concrete pile of work, in three steps. No copy and pasting the same prompt into four chat windows.

      1

      Set your prompts

You decide which questions your customers would put to an AI, starting with the ones that keep coming up in sales calls. Full questions rather than bare keywords, because that is how people talk to an assistant.

      2

      SEOptimate checks the AI engines

For each prompt we check ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity for mentions and citations of your domain, and we detect whether Google returns an AI Overview and whether you are cited inside it.

      3

      Turn the gaps into actions

Every prompt that leaves you out becomes an action: a subject your site has no clear, quotable page on yet. You publish that content, then measure again to see whether it lands.

Why does measuring do half the work?

For most companies AI visibility feels like a black box. The moment you measure it, it becomes ordinary work you can put on a roadmap.

Four AI engines plus AI Overviews

ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews in a single view. No more pasting one question into four windows and keeping score in a spreadsheet that goes stale within a week.

A visibility score you can follow

Your prompts roll up into one score. That gives you a number to repeat on a schedule, so you can tell whether the content you shipped actually moved your presence in AI answers.

      Gaps become action points

A prompt that skips you is not an abstract problem. It is a subject your site answers badly or not at all. It comes back as something to write, not as a red cross on a dashboard.

      One measure and improve loop

Measure, publish, measure again. The content generator lives in the same tool, so an action goes straight into an article and the next run tells you what it was worth.

What gets measured per AI engine?

Five answer sources, checked prompt by prompt. Here is what we look for in each one and what the result is good for.

SourceWhat we check per promptWhat you do with it
ChatGPTWhether your brand or domain is named in the answer or cited as a source.Missing on a commercial question makes that subject the first one that needs a clear page of its own.
GeminiWhether you are named or cited in the generated answer.A result that differs from ChatGPT tells you something about which sources each engine tends to pull in.
ClaudeWhether you are named or cited in the generated answer.A third reading next to ChatGPT and Gemini, so you can tell a structural mention apart from a one-off in a single engine.
PerplexityWhether you are named and whether you appear in the sources listed under the answer.Perplexity shows its sources openly, so this is the fastest way to see which of your pages gets picked up.
Google AI OverviewsWhether Google returns an AI Overview for this query and whether you are cited in it.An AI Overview without you costs you clicks your ordinary ranking would otherwise have earned.

Frequently asked questions about AI visibility and GEO

      What is AI visibility exactly?

      +

AI visibility is how often your brand or domain gets mentioned or cited inside the answers that AI systems like ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity produce, and inside Google AI Overviews. Classic SEO is about your position in a list of links. AI visibility is about whether you are part of the answer somebody actually reads.

What is the difference between SEO and GEO?

      +

GEO stands for generative engine optimization and sits alongside SEO for AI answer engines. SEO is measured in rankings and clicks, GEO is measured in mentions and citations inside generated answers. The groundwork overlaps heavily, think crawlability, clear structure and genuine depth, but the measurement is different. SEOptimate tracks both next to each other.

Which AI engines does SEOptimate check?

      +

For every prompt we check ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and Perplexity for mentions and citations of your domain. On top of that we detect whether Google returns an AI Overview for that query and whether you are cited in it. All five sit in one overview, so you are not pasting the same question into four chat windows by hand.

Can SEOptimate guarantee that ChatGPT will mention me?

      +

No, and no tool can. AI answers are not fully predictable and can differ per user and per moment. What SEOptimate does is measure whether you are mentioned or cited right now on the prompts that matter to you, and turn the missing mentions into concrete actions. Measure, improve, measure again.

How do I pick the right prompts to track?

      +

You set the questions your customers would ask an AI. Start with the questions that come up most often in sales calls, add your core services and the comparison questions people ask before they buy, then mine your keyword research for the rest. Write them as full questions rather than bare keywords, because that is how people talk to an assistant.

What do I do about a prompt I am not mentioned in?

      +

That missing mention becomes an improvement task. In practice it usually means there is no clear, quotable page on your site about that topic yet, or the answer is buried too deep in an existing page. You write or rewrite that content, with the content generator for example, and measure again to see whether it lands.

Is AI visibility a separate module or an add-on?

      +

Neither. AI visibility runs through the platform: the per-prompt measurement sits next to your regular SEO numbers, and the content you produce with SEOptimate is aimed at being citable from the start. So there is no separate fee for it. Plans are Starter at €116 per month billed annually or €129 billed monthly, Basic at €152 and Pro at €179, all cancellable monthly.
