Why waiting is the expensive option
AI answers already sit above the organic results for a growing share of searches. The click you used to earn at position three is now absorbed by a summary. Whoever gets quoted inside that summary keeps the visibility.
- Your competitors get named instead
- Traffic drains without a ranking drop
- You find out when revenue moves
- You rank, but the answer is written without you
- No insight into AI citations
- Blind to a fast-growing channel
- Quoted inside the answer itself
- Visible in Google and in AI engines
- Measurable: you can see who gets named
Four ways GEO genuinely differs from SEO
There is no position, only a mention
An AI answer has no top ten. You are either in the answer or you are not. That makes the outcome binary and it makes tracking a different exercise: you measure mentions and citations, not average position.
Models quote passages, not pages
An engine lifts a paragraph, a definition or a list item. Pages that bury the answer under three paragraphs of build-up get skipped in favour of a competitor who answers in the first two sentences.
Other crawlers, other rules
GPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot and Google-Extended each read your site separately from Googlebot. Block them by accident, or serve them JavaScript they cannot render, and you are invisible no matter how good the content is.
Trust is built off your own site
Models weigh how consistently your brand appears across other sources. Reviews, listicles, forums and press shape whether you are treated as an authority, which makes GEO part content and part distribution.
See whether AI names you or your competitor
SEOptimate researches on real search data, writes content in the structure engines quote from, publishes it to your CMS and tracks your visibility in both Google and AI search. Start with a free scan of your site.

What SEOptimate does for your AI visibility
Four levers that decide whether a model names you or the competitor two doors down.
Quotable structure
Every article opens with a direct answer, then supports it with headings, lists and FAQs an engine can lift verbatim.
Schema that explains you
FAQPage, Article, Product and Organization markup so a model knows what your page is, who wrote it and what it claims.
AI crawler access
Checks whether GPTBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended can actually reach and read your pages, including llms.txt.
Citation tracking
Follow whether AI engines name your brand for the questions your buyers ask, and watch that move over time.
We run SEOptimate on seoptimate.com. Impressions went from 25,390 to 280,001 in 90 days and our article on Google AI Mode is now cited inside Google’s own AI Overview. Same method, same platform.
Results from real customers
Every figure verified in Google Search Console and published with permission.

How to get cited, in four phases
The order matters. Measuring first prevents you from optimizing something that was never broken.
Phase 1MeasureFind out whether AI engines name you today, and for which questions.
+
Find out whether AI engines name you today, and for which questions.
- List the ten questions a buyer asks before choosing you
- Ask ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini those questions and note who gets named
- Check the AI performance reports in Google Search Console
- Record a baseline so you can prove movement later
Phase 2Make it quotableRewrite so a model can lift your answer without rewriting it.
+
Rewrite so a model can lift your answer without rewriting it.
- Answer the main question in the first two sentences of the page
- Answer the obvious follow-up questions on the same page
- Use headings, short paragraphs and lists instead of long build-up
- Add concrete figures, dates and sources a model can verify
- Name a real author with real credentials
Phase 3Open the doorsMake sure AI crawlers can reach, render and understand the page.
+
Make sure AI crawlers can reach, render and understand the page.
- Allow GPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot and Google-Extended in robots.txt
- Publish an llms.txt that points to your key pages
- Add FAQPage and Article schema and validate it
- Serve content server-side so it does not depend on JavaScript
Phase 4Build authorityGet named on the sources those engines already trust.
+
Get named on the sources those engines already trust.
- Find the articles the AI answers cite for your topic
- Get your product into those comparisons and listicles
- Publish original data nobody else has, so quoting you is the only option
- Keep pages current, because models favour fresh, dated facts

Why we built SEOptimate
For years, I paid an SEO agency hundreds of euros per month. The blogs were full of mistakes, and some keywords they targeted had literally zero search volume.
I built SEOptimate because, as an entrepreneur, I no longer wanted to depend on a marketing agency, or keep paying a premium just to get found online. I ran into this myself with my own webshop, GeheimBiertje: great products, but getting found was anything but easy. The same question drives the GEO work: not an opinion about what AI wants, but data on what it actually cites.

Frequently asked questions about pricing and the trial
What is GEO?
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the practice of structuring your content so AI search engines such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Perplexity understand it, trust it and cite it as a source in their generated answers.
Where classic SEO competes for a position in a list of links, GEO competes to be the sentence the model actually uses. That changes what matters: a direct answer in the opening lines, a clear structure the model can lift from, verifiable facts, a named author, and technical access for AI crawlers. Rankings still matter, because most engines pull from search results, but being ranked is no longer the same as being seen.
GEO: frequently asked questions
What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?+
GEO is the practice of structuring your content so AI search engines such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Gemini and Perplexity understand it, trust it and cite it as a source in their answers. Where SEO competes for a position in a list, GEO competes to be the sentence the model uses.
What is the difference between SEO and GEO?+
SEO aims at a position in a list of links and is measured in rankings and clicks. GEO aims at a mention inside a generated answer and is measured in citations. They overlap heavily, because most AI engines pull from search results, so GEO is an extension of solid SEO rather than a replacement.
How do I know whether AI mentions my brand?+
Ask the engines directly: put the ten questions your buyers ask into ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini and note who gets named. Google Search Console also reports AI Overview and AI Mode performance separately. Record a baseline first, because without it you cannot tell whether anything you change is working.
What is llms.txt and do I need one?+
llms.txt is a plain text file in your site root that tells language models what your site is about and which pages matter. It is not an official standard and no engine is obliged to read it, but it costs fifteen minutes and it gives models a clean summary instead of leaving them to guess from your navigation.
Should I allow AI crawlers on my site?+
If you want to be cited, yes. GPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot and Google-Extended read your site separately from Googlebot, and many sites block them without realising it. Blocking them protects your content from being used for training, but it also guarantees you will not appear in those answers.
