How it started
An agency invoice, and keywords nobody searched for
SEOptimate exists because of a bad experience. Founder Koen Pijnenburg was paying an agency hundreds of euros a month for his own online store, GeheimBiertje, and got back blog posts with spelling errors targeting keywords with literally zero monthly searches.
That raised the question the platform was built to answer: if an agency cannot get this right, what does it take to do it properly? The answer turned out to be data. Not an opinion about which keyword looks promising, but search volume, difficulty and intent side by side.
That data comes from DataForSEO. Five of their APIs form the engine underneath the platform, from keyword research to the SERP analysis our AI writes against.

The approach: taking our own medicine
Everything we recommend to customers runs on our own site first. Same rhythm, same platform, same data.
Keywords chosen on data, not on gut feel
The Keywords Data and Labs APIs supply search volume, CPC, difficulty and intent, and cluster related terms into pillar opportunities. Research that used to take half a day is on screen in under five minutes.
Content that knows what already ranks
For every keyword the SERP API pulls the current top 10, including featured snippets and People Also Ask. The AI writes against the actual competition instead of into thin air.
AI writes, a human decides
No autopilot. Every article passes a human before it goes live, because ranking for keywords that never convert is its own way of losing.
Publish, then get it indexed
The On-Page API checks technical elements, meta tags and internal links, after which the article publishes in one click to WordPress, Shopify, WooCommerce or Magento. Changes go straight into Search Console for indexing.
DataForSEO wrote up this partnership from their side. We put our own Search Console numbers next to it, so you can see both the tooling story and the result.
The result on our own site
The figures below are for seoptimate.com itself, measured from 19 May to 17 August 2026 against the 90 days before that.
In the previous quarter the site earned 116 clicks from 25,390 impressions. Over the following 90 days that became 1,047 clicks from 280,001 impressions, with the average position moving from 47.6 to 19.8.
CTR dipped slightly, from 0.46% to 0.37%. That is what you expect when visibility grows faster than clicks: you appear on far more queries, including positions where few people click yet. Turning that reach into clicks is the next job, and we are working it with the same method.
On the platform side the win is mostly time. Keyword research that took half a day now takes minutes, and users publish three to five times more content per month than with a manual workflow or agency support.

Instead of someone telling me they think a keyword is good, the platform shows the data. You see the search volume. You see the difficulty.
What you can take from this
Three principles from our own build that apply to any site.
Use what you sell
Our own site is the first testing ground. Anything that does not work there does not make it into the product.
Data beats an opinion
Volume, difficulty and intent side by side make a keyword choice something you can check. An agency saying "this one looks good" is not.
Put the human at the end
AI publishing unchecked will eventually rank you for terms that never convert. One review step keeps volume and relevance together.
